Mesenteric cystic lymphangioma in adult: a case series and review of the literature

چکیده
Introduction Lymphangiomas are rare benign tumors. They are preferentially located in the head, neck, and axilla in children.[1] However, lymphangiomas in the peritoneal cavity are extremely rare, particularly in adults. In the abdomen, lymphangiomas occur most commonly in the mesentery, followed by the omentum, mesocolon, and retroperitoneum. The etiology is unclear, but they are considered primarily to congenital in origin. [2] Preoperative diagnosis is often difficult due to the frequent silent clinical course. Radiological investigations are a useful diagnostic tool, but definitive diagnosis is confirmed by histopathology after a complete surgical resection. [3] The report describes five cases of adult patients with mesenteric lymphangioma.

Mesenteric Cystic Lymphangioma of Mesocolic Origin in a Three-Month-Old Infant: A Rare Differential Diagnosis of Abdominal Distension
Cystic lymphangioma is a rare benign tumour occurring during childhood. This tumour, caused by lymphatic system malformations, commonly occurs in head and neck regions. Herein, we report the case of a three-month-old male infant, diagnosed with a large cystic mass in the abdominal cavity and groin. The infant presented with low-grade fever and significant abdominal distension. Abdominal CT scan...

Mediastinal lymphangioma is primarily a benign lesion and the majority of the cases are found incidentally. These lesions account for approximately 1% of all mediastinal tumors. Here we present a giant mediastinal cystic mass in a 35-year-old female who was presented with severe respiratory distress. On the plain chest radiography and CT scan, a massive left pleural effusion with large paraster...

Mesenteric lymphangioma is a rare entity with only case reports and small series available in the published literature. We report a 48 years female patient with non-specific abdominal complaints and a cystic mass identified at CT and US. At laparotomy we found a 5 cm cystic mass developed between the folds of the mesentery of the jejunum and an adhesion between the transverse mesocolon and the ...

Mesenteric cystic lymphangioma is a rare lesion. We described a case of 20 years old patient with an asymptomatic cystic lymphangioma that was detected after ultrasound scan performed for a minor abdominal trauma. The patient was treated with laparoscopic exploration and an intestinal resection by mini-laparotomy. Although very rare, cystic mesenteric lymphangiomas may cause complications; ther...
متن کاملGiant cystic lymphangioma of the small bowel mesentery: case report
Cystic lymphangioma is an uncommon mesenteric tumor which is usually reported in children. We describe a case of a 12-years old girl who was admitted in our hospital with abdominal distension and pain. Physical examination showed an abdomino-pelvic mass. Preoperative studies including abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography failed to determine the cause of the pain. Laparotomy found a...
